Pro-Tec Full Cut Skate Helmet Review

Pro-Tec has been an industry favorite for years. Their extensive line of skate and scooter helmets are constantly flying off the shelves since they offer the type of classic, retro look that scooter riders and skaters love, not to mention top of the line protection against impact.

The Pro-Tec full cut skate helmet has a retro look, yet it offers modern protection. It’s one of the leading models on the market and offers a durable design that’s sure to keep you safe and well protected when you hit the street riding the best electric scooter.

Overview and Features

This is a pro-quality helmet designed for scooter, inline skates, and skateboard use.

The helmet will fit riders with a head size ranging from twenty-two to twenty-three inches.

The exterior is made of ABS plastic, which is incredibly durable. On the inside of the helmet, you’ll find a two-stage foam liner that will protect your head against fast, hard falls, including high-impact accidents.

Design

Inside the helmet is also equipped with a thick moisture wicking liner that will prevent sweat from dripping into your eyes as you’re riding around.

In addition to the liner, the helmet also comes with a total of seventeen vents designed to improve air circulation, which will keep you nice and dry.

The helmet’s full coverage design will cover your head and ears in the traditional 1970s style that offers top of the line protection against impact. If this is simply too much coverage and you’d prefer a more breathable design, we recommend the Pro-Tec Classic helmet.

Some riders may find the full coverage design uncomfortable, especially during hot weather, despite the extensive vent system. However, studies have proven that full coverage helmets provide the most protection in the event of an accident. Half helmets, which are more popular, cannot provide the type of protection you need in a serious collision. This model is recommended for riders of all ages, especially for riders who commute to and from work.

Riding in Style

You’ve purchased your first electric scooter, but you’re not sure what type of helmet to get or how to determine how safe it is.

This model by Pro-Tec features the classic full cut look that’s been used for decades since it provides top of the line protection. While this helmet was originally designed for skateboarders, this helmet is also commonly used by scooter riders and rollerbladers. The helmet provides full protection complete with a thick interior liner that will keep you cool and comfortable.

The outer shell is made out of tough ABS plastic which can take a beating without cracking.

Ventilation

If you ride around in a warm climate, then a helmet equipped with plenty of vents will be essential. The vent system on this helmet is top of the line. Combined with the moisture wicking liner, you’ll stay cool and dry in hot weather.

Safety

If you don’t know how to ride an electric scooter then it can be easy to lose your balance as you learn how to turn, weave through traffic, and ride around busy streets. With every fall there’s a risk you’ll end up with a serious head injury.

Beginners and kids are the most likely to get hurt. More than fifty percent of scooter injuries occur to people under the age of sixteen or people with less than three months of riding experience.

However, even experienced riders can get hurt as well. As the difficulty of the terrain increases or during high traffic times, your risk of falling or getting hit by a car skyrocket.

It might seem like all you need to ride a scooter is a little confidence and decent balance, that is, until your first wipeout. Wood, concrete, asphalt, and other types of riding surfaces have one thing in common and that’s the fact that they’re hard and unforgiving. Even a minor fall can cause a serious injury, but while you can get by with some road rash and a few bruises, a head injury is no laughing matter.

Falling off your scooter is all part of the learning process, however, being prepared in the event of a serious crash can potentially save your life.

Liner

The moisture wicking liner is designed to absorb sweat as you ride, preventing sweat from dripping into your eyes and affecting your vision during a ride on a hot day. The liner also offers top odor absorbing power, so you won’t have to worry about the liner smelling once it dries. This can be a big issue if you ride your scooter to work and have to bring your helmet indoors.

Warranty

Pro-Tec currently offers a twelve-month product warranty.

Durability

This helmet is made out of durable ABS plastic. Some riders have reported that even in the event of a serious crash the helmet did not crack. However, the manufacturer recommends replacing the helmet should you notice any cracks, dents, or other signs of damage. Many helmets must be replaced regardless of whether or not damage is noticeable, but this model by Pro-Tec is built strong and will only need to be replaced if the damage is apparent.

Pros

  • Comfortable
  • Provides full coverage
  • Extensive vent system
  • Adjustable

Cons

  • Full helmet design may be uncomfortable for some riders

Pro-Tec Full Cut Helmet Conclusion and Rating

Scooter Sight.com Product Rating: (5/5)

Pro-Tec Full Cut Skate HelmetPro-Tec has done it again by producing an innovative, high-quality scooter helmet that’s designed to provide full protection against impact. While the style and coverage may feel like overkill, this style has been proven time and time again to be the safest option on the market.

This type of full coverage protection is necessary if you often find yourself riding in high-traffic areas or if you regularly use your electric scooter as a commuter. But even recreational riders will benefit from this level of safety, especially kids and beginners. Overall, this is a highly adjustable, breathable, comfortable helmet that provides the type of protection the scooter rider needs on the street. We gave this helmet a rating of five out of five stars.
