When it comes to commuting and recreational fun, electric scooters are becoming more popular every day.
Ever since COVID hit the world, electric scooters have become a safe and fun alternative to traveling around town. Now people are looking for scooters that are easy to transport and can last a day on a single battery charge.
Now Valara has been gaining traction with their latest line of electric scooters, the Pegasus.
The Pegasus is to be the middle ground within long-lasting riding in city streets with the lightweight and strength riders are looking for.
Is this worth your hard earned dollars though? Let's take a look.
Product Specifications
The Pegasus has a long-lasting battery life for city travel to last 28 miles on a single charge. Powered by a dual 500W motor with a 48 volt/15.6 ah battery, weighing only 68 pounds.
Yet as light as Valara's Pegasus is, it can support riders up to 300 pounds in weight and a top speed of 35 miles an hour.
Even still, it has features that make it unique from every other electric scooter on offer.

Speed
The Valara Pegasus is capable of reaching speeds up to 35 miles an hour, thanks to the dual-motor that comes with it.
Even with an incline at 25 degrees, the Pegasus will power through without much loss of acceleration. For those who are looking for something fast enough to get through city streets, this might have the power you're looking for.
As for stopping power where it matters most, the dual disc braking system can stop acceleration as fast as it started. You should always be practicing safe riding when on an electric scooter, regardless.
Tires
Riding on concrete and pavement can be risky when riding an electric scooter, as a flat tire could happen.
Yet, the Pegasus has solid puncture-proof tires, made from hard plastic. The tires are an upgrade to tubeless rubber tires, making the rides feel smooth at moderate speeds.
While not a very big change, this set of tires might last you longer than traditional tires would on scooters. A very little change to make life that much easier.
Special Features
One of the biggest functions of the Pegasus is the self-locking mechanism. Unlike most electric scooters that use a locking bar or a key, the Pegasus uses a button and clamp folding system.
Within 3 steps, it folds in almost half its size, making it easy to place in the backseat of a car.
The accelerator also has a new layout, with a thumb throttle rather than a trigger for the finger. It's aligned with the handlebar to make it comfortable to use.
The LCD display is large and rests right at the top of the stem. Even in direct sunlight, the display is big and bright enough to see your speed, battery life, and range in a glance.

Pros and Cons of the Pegasus
Much of what the Pegasus has to offer sounds like it is perfect for anyone. Though it's far from perfect and has a few issues that you need to know.
Pros
Between the build quality and unique features, this would appeal to first-time riders and even veterans. The lightweight build and the durability it has to offer to make this unique, as well as having a cheap price compared to other city commuters.
The speed that the Pegasus can go on is on par with what's typical city traveling speed, making this street legal. The innovation with the locking mechanism makes packing it up easier and faster.
Cons
Even though this might be a good city traveling scooter, this isn't a very fast or long-ranged one either. Very limited in speed and the tires, though strong, will need to be replaced if used on a regular basis.
The locking mechanism doesn't fold the handlebars, either. Meaning it would make fitting through a small door a bit of a trial. As for the thumb throttle, its placement may feel awkward to those who are familiar with the finger throttle.
Who Is This Scooter for?
Valara's electric scooter might be a good choice for those who are looking for an alternative to city buses and taxis. Being battery-powered also means saving money on gas.
The Pegasus is simple to use, though takes into consideration what riders need like speed and weight capacity. The range is also decent enough to where it can get you from home to work and back on a single charge.
Who Is This NOT for?
As an electric scooter for speed and long-ranged rides, this can't be recommended for serious electric scooter riders. Although the tires are tested for rocky surfaces, it's not all-terrain.
The Pegasus is suited for more casual riders who want an electric scooter that fills the needs of being used for city traversal. This is not for an ATV enthusiast who likes to go fast and go over dirt and mud.
